As part of the Ireland 2016 commemorative programme, each school in Ireland was invited to commemorate and reflect upon the events of 100 years ago. Over the past few months our school has been working on various projects to mark this occasion. Tuesday, 15th of March was designated Proclamation Day, we invited parents and neighbours to join us in the celebrations for Proclamation Day. Highlights of our event included the raising of the tricolour – which had been presented to our school at a ceremony earlier in the academic year. Our Flag was raised by Mrs. Nuala Coffey, Maria, her granddaughter and Erin. The school band performed and the whole school sang a couple of poignant songs for the occasion. Our Proclamation for a New Generation, which was created by the children, was read aloud. The entire event was a huge success.
